Sandham Gardens have submitted a planning application to the Isle of Wight Council to seek permission to install a new high nets adventure course as part of the continued regeneration of Sandown.
The original plan was to build a high ropes course on land beside the newly-opened Dino Islands golf course. However, Heritage GB have decided to adjust that plan slightly and are now looking to install a unique net-based adventure course instead.
One of the main reasons for the change is the major structural deterioration of other high rope installations in coastal environments in other areas of the UK, mixed with the success of the company’s nets installation in Ripon, York.
The ‘Net Palance’ will cater for those aged 3 to 70+.
It is thought the company are looking to spend around £750,000 on the new attraction.
Marino Zanti, General Manager, says:
“We would love to be in a position to start works in 2019, the proposed development and enhancement of the gardens is incredibly important not just for Sandown’s regeneration but the Isle of Wight as a whole”.
