The Isle of Wight’s Nick Percy has smashed his own Scottish discus record at the Throw Town meet in Oklahoma, United States.
Nick – who was born in Glasgow but lives on the Island – threw 67.86m, a personal best in the event.
Percy’s record-breaking throw was sufficient for him to achieve the World Championships Automatic Qualification Standards, meaning he will be appearing on the world stage in Japan this Summer.
Nick says:
“I’m so grateful for everyone who helps make this journey possible.
“From coaches and family to colleagues and friends, their belief means everything.”
Olympian Nick previously competed for Team GB in the 2024 Paris Olympics, finishing in 12th place.
After his record-breaking heroics in the States, Nick will be returning to teach at Ryde and Upper Chine School after the Easter break.
