An Island couple have been fined £120 each after Police found heroin during a raid on their property in Ryde Town Centre.
Alan Tinsley and Leanne Sadler, both of Union Street in Ryde, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday).
38-year-old Tinsley appeared charged with possession of a controlled drug (Class A) and possession of a controlled drug (Class B), whilst 54-year-old Sadler appeared charged with possession of a controlled drug (Class A).
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police stopped Tinsley whilst driving through Nettlestone on 13th February but, when pulled over, he tried to run away. A search of the car revealed suspected Class A and Class B drugs and a quantity of cash.
With their suspect eventually arrested and in custody, it was early in the afternoon that officers turned their attention to a flat on Union Street in Ryde. At around 13:00 entry was made to a property where suspected Class A drugs were located and seized.
At the address, 54-year-old Sadler was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs.
The pair have been trouble-free since they last appeared before the courts back in 2019, it was heard today.
Defending, Jim Osborne said that both of the defendants were users of diamorphine at the time of the incident and that whilst Sadler has since been free of drug use, Tinsley had tried to quit but due to the number of years he had been using, quitting made him extremely sick.
Magistrates handed each of the defendants a fine of £120. They were both ordered to pay costs of £85 each and a £48 surcharge fee each.

Wow £120 what deterrent is that! Been out of trouble for 4 years!, or not been caught for 4 years more like? More oxygen thieves!
no deterrent because we will be paying it through their dole money
Was going to make a mum joke there, but seeing their ages, she could well be.
Those fines will make them think twice next time.
They need putting into some sort of stop being a waster and start paying into Society program.
Trainspotting comes to mind
Thought the same niko, could be straight off the film set.
They both look scag ravaged…not the best cougar specimen i must say.

What about the handgun described as a self loading pistol found during the raid???

It’s a timely reminder not to do drugs. These people sponge off our welfare system taking valuable resources which could better use elsewhere.
Every picture tells a story!!
Because this is a greater punishment – can’t miss red top in street, every snitch or snowflake will now keep reporting them to police, harrasment is probably better than prison for scum. Wonder when landlord will kick them out ?. Do drugs do crime and you’re time will come if don’t stop before being arrested.
Looks like mother and son to me
more like grandmother and son
Did they take the day off work to go to court?
Coming off drugs makes him feel ill? Pathetic excuse, pathetic man. These two scumbags look like a right pair. I wouldn’t trust either of them as far as I could throw them, which in his case looks to be about 600 metres.
Living their miserable lives is punishment enough. They won’t be around for long on that cocktail.
That’s what drugs do to you 54 and looks 74.
looks like nan and grandson or is it the drugs that makes her look like her sell buy date has well gone
Should have been fined extra for those sunglasses and possession of an offensive partner.
