Rabbit and guinea pig owners on the Isle of Wight are being invited to a special drop-in welfare clinic at the RSPCA Isle of Wight Animal Centre in Godshill later this month.
The event will take place between 11:00 and 15:00 on Saturday (13th July) at the charity’s centre on Merstone Lane. The expert team will be on hand to offer practical help with nail clipping, grooming, scent gland cleaning, front teeth checks and general advice on pets’ wellbeing.
In 2024, the charity rehomed 60 rabbits and 55 small animals. Like many other UK shelters, the Rabbitry department remains at capacity, with animals waiting to be surrendered as soon as space becomes available.
The welfare clinic aims to reduce further surrenders by supporting owners and helping the community better understand the level of care small animals require. It’s also an opportunity for staff to meet the island’s furry companions.
A suggested donation of £3 per pet will help raise funds for rabbits and guinea pigs currently looking for new homes. No appointment is necessary and owners are welcome to bring multiple pets, but they must be in secure carriers.
