The 124th Royal Isle of Wight County Show will take place at the County Showground in Northwood this coming weekend (12th-13th July), celebrating all aspects of Island life.
Organised by the Island for the Island, the popular event brings together livestock and equine classes where farmers and equestrians compete to showcase the best sheep, goats, cattle, pigs and horses.
The County Show is a true celebration of local talent, with highlights including the Visit Isle of Wight Tourism Area, Show Farm and the Woodland, as well as local food and drink, Island art and artisan crafts – and even a beach.
A packed entertainment programme will run across both days, featuring a full Main Ring timetable, performances on the Village Green Stage and activities in the Village Green Arena. By popular demand, The Sheep Show will return, with Nobby the sheep once again the star attraction.
All proceeds from the show will go to support the Rural Careers Fund, run by the Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society, which helps Island students develop skills in agriculture and related courses.

“As a County Show, we want to celebrate the Island’s talent and give Islanders a really fun but inexpensive day out. We call the show a field full of fun. There is so much to see and do, many people now come back for a second day.”

With the expected heat this weekend i hope they all look after the livestock. I can only imagine the horse jumping ect will be cancelled.
It should be, but I doubt it will.
We managed to get through the heat which at 23 degrees c is pretty standard summer weather with no cancelled shows and no fatalities, not sure if you know but animals live outside all year round generally so are able to handle the varying weather we get. Nothing like a doom and gloom naysayer in the comment section is there. Put your phone down and go out and enjoy yourself. You should of gone to the show ot was fantastic.
