Emergency services have been called to a road traffic collision on a narrow road on the outskirts of Newport this evening (Thursday).
The incident occurred on Burnt House Lane at around 16:45.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are on the scene.
No serious injuries are thought to have been sustained.
The incident has likely occurred as motorists on their commute home look to avoid heavy traffic congestion in and around Newport.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 18:45 – The road has now reopened.
UPDATE FRIDAY – It has been confirmed that the drivers of a Vauxhall Astra and a Seat Ateca sustained minor injuries in the 2-car crash.
They did not require hospital treatment.

It’s used as a rat-run by cars coming into Newport from the downs to avoid the Staplers/Coppins snarl-ups.
20 Mph Roads will solve the problem
Idiot no need for 20 mph just drive properly simple
Used it about 30 years ago, don’t any more, too many idiots who thought they could do more than 20 mph along it.
Its probably like Betty Haunt Lane overgrown and blocking good visibility.
The roads and hedges are now so overgrown its not surprising there are accidents.
You just cant pull into the side anymore either as there are hidden posts.
Another fail for the Isle of Wight.
