Brading Down Road has been closed this evening (Wednesday) following a road traffic collision, with motorists facing lengthy diversions due to roadworks in Brading.
Emergency services are on scene and police have closed the road between Ashey Road and Bullys Hill.
The emergency closure, combined with the road closure of Brading High Street for roadworks, is causing extra-long diversions for those having to avoid the incident.
The crash is said to have happened by the lay-by on the Newport side of the downs.
Recovery is on scene and the road is expected to re-open once debris has been cleared from the carriageway.
UPDATE – The road has now re-opened to all traffic.

Audi, BMW or VM Golf involved at all?
It you rearrange the word evil you get VILE
If you rearrange the words Old bean you get LEAD NOB
Let’s hope all involved are ok
‘Newport side of the downs’ an interesting concept.
Roughly speaking, it was at column.bugs.calibrate on the what three words app. I arrived there moments after it happened but turned around and went back the other way so that’s a very rough estimate, but that general area on Bradings Down Road.
