Firefighters have rushed to an address in the heart of Shanklin this morning (Wednesday) following reports of a fire at a residential property.
At around 10:00, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue dispatched pumping appliances from Newport, Ryde and Shanklin fire stations to Wilton a Park Road.
Once on scene, firefighters quickly donned breathing apparatus and entered the flat, using hose reel jets and a safety covering jet to tackle the blaze.
The blaze was quickly brought under control with no visible signs of fire damage evident on the exterior of the property. Positive pressure ventilation was used to rid the property of any lingering smoke.
Wilton Park Road is currently blocked between the junctions with Avenue Road and Clarence Road.
Those present are beginning to pack away their gear, with crews expected to return to station in due course.
