Emergency services have been responding to two road traffic collisions following a sudden hail downpour across the Island earlier today (Wednesday).
One person has escaped serious injury after their pick-up left the road and collided head-on with a tree on Briddlesford Road near Wootton at around 11:00. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved and the road remained open under Police direction before the vehicle was recovered.
Meanwhile in Cowes, a motorcyclist has been conveyed to hospital with suspected leg injuries after being involved in a collision with a van on the main Newport to Cowes road. Emergency crews were called to the scene near the county show ground at 11:20.
Both incidents have now been cleared.
In Sandown, Police and ambulance teams have been attending what is thought to be another road traffic incident on Station Avenue. The road was temporarily closed as a result.
