6 candidates will appear on the ballot paper in the Wroxall, Lowtherville and Bonchurch by-election on 10th July, it has been revealed.
The by-election has been prompted by the resignation of Councillor Rodney Downer – who has served his local community for more than 15 years.
Among those standing in next month’s election is David Groocock, who previously stood as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate in the General Election. He is now the Conservative candidate for the Isle of Wight Council seat.
Also standing is Bill Nigh for Reform UK. He did particularly well in the Freshwater South by-election back in May, narrowly missing out to now-elected Becca Cameron.
Mark Jefferies is the representative for the Island Independent Network, whilst Rachel Lambert is the Liberal Democrat candidate.
Christopher Lloyd is representing the Labour Party and Graham Perks represents the Vectis Party, a local political group.
The by-election will take place on Thursday 10th July 2025 with polls open from 07:00-22:00.
The last date to apply to ‘Register to Vote’ in this election will be Tuesday 24th June 2025. Details about how to appear on the electoral register can be found at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
