Amazon World has welcomed a 10-month-old Red Panda from Belfast this month as part of an endangered species breeding programme.
Flint arrived on the Island last week following a transfer from Belfast Zoo, having been flown across the Irish Sea to Heathrow and then transported by road – and ferry – to the Island. Keepers hope that in the next couple of years, Amazon World’s female Red Panda, Xiao, will successfully mate with Flint to help keep Red Pandas in existence. A spokesperson for the Zoo has said:
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at Belfast Zoo for their help with organising the transfer and to JCS Livestock for arranging the flight from Belfast to Heathrow and bringing him down to the Zoo!”
