There will be yet more disruption on Red Funnel’s Red Jet service this week with a revised timetable set to come into force on Saturday (18th May). The cross-Solent operator has confirmed that due to repair works on board Red Jet 6, a one-craft-only service will need to run at the start of the weekend. Furthermore, the 18:30 sailing from West Cowes the day before, Friday, has been cancelled – presumably to allow repair works to get underway on Friday evening. It’s said that an inboard hub seal is to blame – which comes just a short time after an issue with Red Jet 6’s coolant pump. As first reported by Island Echo, Red Funnel is to operate with only 2 hi-speed vessels moving forward due to the sale of Red Jet 4 to South Korea, something confirmed a week after Island Echo’s exclusive article was published.
