Red Funnel have suspended their Red Jet service until further notice due to adverse weather conditions, with Hovertravel also suspending their cross-Solent operation this afternoon (Sunday).
Choppy seas have led to the 2 separate operators taking the decision to cancel their services, leaving passengers having to seek alternative travel arrangements.
The Hi Speed Red Jet service between West Cowes and Southampton is off until further notice, with an update due at around 18:30. The vehicle ferry is still operating to and from East Cowes.
At Ryde, Hovertravel say an update will be provided at 16:30 on whether or not their Ryde-Southsea crossing will resume. The service was suspended at 13:30 this afternoon.
UPDATE @ 16:40 – Hovertravel have confirmed that their service will resume at 17:15 from Ryde and 17:30 from Southsea.

Funny people see the reasoning in stopping the Hovercraft due to risk of injury or death, yet complain when an non essential service like the Cinema is closed.
Odd priorities this generation with heads in make believe hold and that’s a fact.
When Hoover craft first were introduced offering a regular service they could cope with heavy seas it’s odd over the years that apart from the Ryde /Southsea service commercial services have ceased.!
It would be easier this time of year to let us know when they ARE running
