Red Funnel has suspended both its hi-speed Red Jet and vehicle ferry services until further notice, with Hovertravel services also suspended, as stormy weather hits the Isle of Wight, at the start of what is expected to be a long weekend of disruption.
Extremely strong winds and driving rain will feature in the forecast between now and Tuesday, with the worst of the weather expected today and on Sunday night into Monday.
Conditions are such this morning that Red Funnel has halted its Cowes to Southampton Red Jet service and its vehicle ferry service between East Cowes and Southampton.
Hovertravel’s Ryde-Southsea service is also suspended until at least 07:45. It seems likely that the service will fail to run for substantial periods over the next 4 days.
Wightlink is currently running to timetable across its 3 cross-Solent routes.
UPDATE @ 09:27 – Red Funnel and Red Jet services have resumed.
Really? wightlink no problem..
