The driver of a small hatchback escaped with minor injuries after losing control and rolling the vehicle on its roof on the outskirts of Shanklin last night (Saturday).
Police and paramedics were called to Godshill Road, the main road between Whitely Bank and Shanklin, at just gone 23:30.
It had been reported that a car had come to rest upside down on its roof as a result of the driver losing control.
Emergency services arrived on scene – between the junctions of Apse Manor Road and Cliff Bridge – to find a damaged Fiat Punto.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was subsequently alerted to the single vehicle collision with a retained appliance from Shanklin mobilised at just before midnight in the interests of scene safety.
It has been confirmed the driver sustained minor injuries.
No offences have been identified.
There was a crash the OTHER END of Apse Manor road last night at the same time?
I blame IW Council they are responsible for road safety!
It is obvious Numpty’s don’t stick to the speeding rules,
so it’s about time this useless Council puts in measure to
STOP speeding.
Speed humps could be positioned every so many
yards to STOP motorists ever being able to break the
Law!!
Until something is done about speeding, these types
of unnesseccary accidents will keep happening.
Beachfield Road in Sandown
Yaverland Road in Sandown
Great Preston Road in Ryde
Briddlesford Road in Wootton
ALL OF THESE ROADS PLUS MANY MORE ROADS NEED
SPEED HUMPS INSTALLING
So it’s the councils fault that this driver flipped their car. Which department? Who is the councillor responsible? We should name and shame them.
Whoever is responsible for Highways on the
Island is responsible.
Everyday I see loads of B’stards speeding and
NO Fcuker does anything about it!
The authorities are useless!
Oh,.. so it’s speed humps now ?? it used to be speed cameras you wanted.
Surely humpswould just assist in getting cars to flip over ??
Presumably as the report states “No offences have been identified”, the police don’t consider that speeding was an issue (or perhaps you know different,.. were you there ?)
Is it only me who sees vehicles speeding everyday
on the island, maybe you need to go to Specsavers
Yes, ‘Enough is Enough’ has opinions about almost every post on here and is getting on my nerves at the amount of time they have on their hands. The money simply isn’t there to do as you keep suggesting. Perhaps if you get a job and pay your taxes you will get what you want? Or just get a life!
Oh dear more shit driving then..at least off the road for a while..
Roof season
This business of parking your car on its roof is one I have only ever encountered on the Island. Is it passed down trough generations?
