Islanders are set to gather in Newport to demand a ‘General Election Now’ as part of a national day of campaigning on Saturday (5th November).
After a chaotic few weeks in Westminster – and the UK’s third Prime Minister entering 10 Downing Street in 2022 – campaigners are concerned that the plight of ordinary citizens are being ignored by leaders.
Cross-party groups such as Enough is Enough and the People’s Assembly recognise that residents are facing a huge cost of living crisis – which they believe won’t be tackled without a significant change in national leadership.
A spokesperson for Enough is Enough Isle of Wight has said:
“Thousands of islanders are facing a winter of crisis when it comes to energy, wages, housing and cuts to public services. They are at crisis point and really worried about their families and their future.
“Many local organisations are pulling together to offer food, shelter and warmth for residents which is fantastic. But to get meaningful change, to earn the confidence and support of the British people, we must have a General Election and a leader who is elected by the people, not a small group of MPs.
“Everyone is welcome to join us on 5th November to make these demands. Bring flags, banners, placards and even a Guy Fawkes if you have one! Don’t stay angry and upset at home – channel your energy towards working with others for a more democratic future!”
The General Election Now campaign will be meeting in St James’ Square, Newport from midday on 5th November. All are welcome.

Our Westminster turkeys did not vote for Christmas; you’ll have to wait until 2024 for the chance to stick them in the anaerobic digester they deserve!
What makes you think another party could govern the UK any better. You obviously haven’t lived under a Liebour government. The other parties aren’t even fit for purpose.
Oh, do give over. “Liebour”? The current Tory clowns have told 100 massive porkies for every one by the Blair Government.
The Brexit campaign was just lies from beginning to end. Remember how it was going to stop illegal immigration? How’s that going?
Yet its the other parties who are welcoming the illegal immigrants and claiming by trying to stop them is against their human rights.
What a bunch of numpties, nothing better to do, meanwhile the rest of us will continue working to pay their benefits, do they really honestly think anybody will notice them ?
Well said !!!
U go to work mate ur a slave to the system. Everyone pays taxs u dinlo whether ther on benefits or not now go an remove ur silver spoon from yr a**
It would appear that English is not your first language!!!
Get a life LOL, haven’t they got anything better to do?
Well, they are welcome to waste their own time singing slogans in the pouring rain, but do they really think they’ll make the slightest difference? Most politicians don’t know where the Isle of Wight is, let alone care what a load of numpty protestors from there think!
What a load of tossers!
acts like this just push us further to the right! excellent news! keep up the good work!
How does protesting against one of the most right-wing Governments this country has ever had “push us further to the right”?
All M.P.s should be paid a basic salary say 2500k per year then paid a top up depending on the results they have achieved.
Just like most people working
Job = pipe leaking ? fix leaking pipe = result get paid.
M.P.s Paid by results
see how many then want to do the job
