A power cut in Shanklin is affecting 1669 households and businesses this morning (Saturday).
The outage was first reported at 08:56 and is affecting 125 postcodes in the PO36 and PO37 areas.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the fault and engineers are working to restore power.
They estimate that power will be restored by 13:00.
UPDATE @ 12:22 – Power has now been restored in the affected area.

Power is restored but it knocked out the one remaining lift (other has been out of order for months now) and with Osborne Steps still blocked off that means only each end of the beach to get down to the sea.
Second fault in 3 weeks and look they are digging the exact same hole in hope road outside the channel view hotel, as they did last time.

I was sitting down Shanklin esplanade a few days ago and was shocked to see a
group of young teenagers vaping and they were blowing vape from each other’s mouth
to one and other (mouth to mouth)
I thought what crazy things are going on in the world thesedays.
Vaping should be banned.
So do drugs, even the ones that are on prescription. The farmasuclical companies make a fortune from side affects…
So is breathing car fumes, or eating processed food, even animals are injected with unnatural growth hormones that we consume….Vapours are one thing, but there are many other poisons killing us to worry about….Just take a look at the ingredients on processed foods, and you will know most people don’t have a clue what they are…..This is why cancer is going through the roof….The food industry has a lot to answer too…
The difference is people have a choice what they eat,
they don’t have a choice when selfish persons blow vape at them.
Hope the Tories here are glad that they let the government privatise our essential infrastructure and sell it to non UK companies.
