UPDATED: Residents and businesses in Ryde and the surrounding areas have been hit by a power cut this evening (Monday).
At just before 17:20 the power was temporarily cut to those in the PO33 1, PO33 2, PO33 3, PO33 4, PO34 5, PO35 5 and PO36 0 areas, although supply has already returned for the majority. A total of 183 postcodes have been affected.
Island Echo readers are reporting that power is still out in the St Helens and Bembridge areas. Southern and Scottish Energy Power Distribution estimated that their services will return by 19:30
Meanwhile in Shanklin, residents living in the PO37 6 and PO37 7 areas are still without power following a cut in supply at lunchtime. It is estimated that power will be restored to the small number affected by 21:00 tonight.
UPDATE @ 17:55 – Power has been lost a total of 3 times in the last 30 minutes as engineers work to resolve the issue. Readers as far afield as Cowes and Sandown are also reporting issues.
UPDATE @ 21:30 – SSEPD engineers have located and resolve the problem with supplies now stable.
