UPDATED: Hundreds of homes in Binstead and Ryde are without power this dinner time (Thursday) following a power cut in the area.
At 17:54 homes across Ryde experienced a small dipping of the lights, with some 174 postcode areas – 1,500 homes – losing electricity supply altogether.
Power has already been restored to some properties, but 78 postcodes are still in darkness. Traffic lights at Pelhurst Road have also been affected.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks say engineers are working on the fault and expect to have supplies returned by 20:00.

UPDATE @ 18:50 – Engineers are continuing to work to restore power to affected properties.
The main areas affected by the outage are Mayfield Road, Broadway Crescent, Jelicoe Road, Pelhurst Road and Arthur Street.
Motorists are being advised to take care at Queens Road and Pelhurst Road.

UPDATE @ 19:05 – Engineers have restored power to even more properties, although 35 postcodes remain without this evening.
UPDATE @ 20:40 – Power has been restored to almost all properties following repairs to a damaged overhead cable.
The remaining 27 properties should be reconnected by 21:00.
