At around 09:30 power was lost across The Bay area affecting a total of 850 postcode areas. Although power has been quickly restored to many, around 310 postcodes remain without electricity supply.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the fault and anticipate that supplies will be restored by 11:30.
UPDATE @ 09:49 – Power has now been restored to the majority of customers, with homes and businesses in the PO36 0 and PO36 9 postcodes still affected by the outage.
UPDATE @ 10:16 – Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks have told Island Echo that 4,000 customers were affected by this morning’s power outage. All but 2 customers at East Yar Road in Sandown have had power restored.
The cause of the large-scale outage remains unclear, but a fault finding investigation will commence once all customers are back on the grid.
