A brand new Poundland store in the heart of Ryde will open its doors within the next 3 months, the discount chain have confirmed.
As first reported by Island Echo back in June, the national discount chain is to open its third store on the Island in Ryde High Street, occupying the former Sinclair Youngs and Gladrags stores which have now been knocked into one.
Significant building work has taken place with an extension added to the rear of the property, extending towards The Co-Operative car park. As a result of the upcoming store opening, The Co-Operative have introduced a ticket machine in their car park. Parking remains free but for just 60 minutes, which must be accompanied by a ticket on display.
3 years ago today Island Echo reported the news that Poundland was seeking to employ members of staff for a new Ryde store, but those plans were scrapped at the last minute before the new plans resurfaced in 2014.
Oddly, Poundland still refuse to confirm the location of the new store.
