Ryde Car Boot, which has been taking place on the seafront for over 30 years, will not be making a return as the sale’s organiser calls time on the event.
Each year, during the drier months, dozens of vehicles would arrive at Quay Road on a Sunday morning seeking to get the best position. Then, by mid-morning, hundreds of buyers would flock to the sale in a bid to find a bargain.
Financial, personal and ‘other’ reasons have led to Russell Pellett – organiser for the past 10 years – making the difficult decision to no longer run the weekly car boot.
Russell says:
“I thank all our loyal supporters and all our regular buyers and sellers for their valued support and for keeping us going.
“After 30 years of being there, this has been a difficult decision”.
“I wish you all well, keep safe and good luck for future events”.
A number of other car boot sales still take place, including at Chale Recreation Ground – with the first car boot planned for 10th April (09:00 sellers, 09:30 public).

Im an avid car boot attendee but this was possibly the worst one on the IOW anyway, never found anything good here.
