A popular Newport-based florist has closed its doors after more than 2 decades on the town’s High Street.
In what the owner has described as a ‘heartbreaking decision’, Doris Pinks has announced its closure via a sign on the shop’s door. The shop – which has previously offered both an instore service as well as Island-wide delivery, has been a stalwart of the High Street for many years and only recently unveiled its new look in April.
Many Islanders have paid visits to the shop over the years to buy meaningful gifts for loved ones, or to take advantage of its Mothers Day service that proved a huge hit during its run.
No reason has so far been given for the florist’s closure, but it is yet another huge loss for Newport’s High Street.
In April, Island Echo revealed the shocking state of Newport’s Town Centre – with no less than 40 retail units being empty at the time of publication.
