UPDATED: Police have responded to concerns for the welfare of a woman and her dog in Binstead tonight (Tuesday) following a post on Facebook by a concerned member of the public.
According to reports, the distressed woman was talking about her dog dying outside the Treefields housing complex on Binstead Main Road, sparking a response by Police and the RSPCA at just before 21:30. Members of the public who had read the post also rushed to the scene fearing the worst for the dog.
Thankfully, the dog – thought to be a Bernese Mountain dog – has been unharmed and is thought to be doing well. The animal is now in the care of the RSPCA.
Police are speaking with the woman in question to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the alert.
UPDATE @ 23:02 – The female has been assessed by Mental Health nurses and has been taken to Sevenacres, Newport for assessment.
It is thought the lady and the dog had travelled from Europe yesterday.
