Police are appealing for information following a burglary attempt in Ryde during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The attempted burglary took place at an address in Player Street sometime between 02:00 and 03:30 on Wednesday 15th July.
Hampshire Constabulary is asking residents if you know who these men are, or perhaps you recognise the clothing they are wearing.
The image directly above shows all 4 males, and they are described as follows from left to right.
- White male, slim build, with a face covered by black material. Wearing a black beanie style hat with a grey edge, a puffer style jacket with side pockets and a black hood, black gloves with a white emblem to the back of the hand, and black trousers or jeans.
- White male, heavier build, with grey/white head covering and face mask. Wearing a black hooded top underneath a black hooded padded jacket with a white emblem to the left chest and left wrist, side pockets and a coloured zip pull; black gloves with a white emblem on the rear of the hand; black tracksuit bottoms and blue trainers with white soles.
- White male, slim build. Wearing a blue hooded tracksuit with white emblems to the left chest, right shoulder blade and left thigh areas and a zip next to left chest emblem; grey/silver trainers, light coloured gloves with a darker palm.
- White male, slim build. Wearing a black hooded top with red piping to the front zip and side pockets, and a black baseball cap underneath the hood; grey tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe along the side of the leg; black trainers with white soles, black gloves and a black face mask with white detailing.

Wait until Ryde is expanded and filled with the inner cities delights. These days will be remembered by todays young as older people remember their past, when doors could be left unlocked, bicycles left safely, and most people were decent.
We have yet to experience the horrors that the mainland have had already, yet we will. It is ONLY the fact that the main ‘type’ who ruin lives, will find the Island too dull, but once they get a foothold it will change rapidly for the worst.
So for all those who ‘want a fixed link’ or complain bitterly about ferry costs, remember that is WHY we are, as yet not burdened with those who ruin everywhere they settle, but, Ryde en masse building could be ‘the game changer’ as many homes are to be advertised in inner city’s to reduce the burden on their councils.
So, as anyone wise would do, they will ‘offload’ their worst problem tenants onto us.
Watch and see, they will be easy to spot as will the serious crime stats.
It won’t be confined to Ryde, as the richer pickings are elsewhere.
Best buy a large dog or two.
Fear not those on planning and the developers though will have high security, live miles away from the main troubles, and will be covered fully by insurance, so will not be effected, but will YOU?

The island will become a hell hole within ten years, even driving on the island is a nightmare because of very aggressive drivers.
I moved to the island in 1973 at the age of fourteen and it was a lovely place to be as a teenager, crime was very low and it wasn’t a fearful place to live, but that’s all changing now…
Sadly, too true, sir. As someone whose childhood was spent having nammit under the broad-leaved trees in the fields off Piggy Lane, I hate the situation that it’s almost a ‘done deal’ that a certain building company and the IWCC will destroy the beautiful countryside between Ryde and Brading so that councils with the highest crime, violence, burglary, and Covid-19 rates can offload their scum. Then our masters get more money for jollies and painting white spots on pavements because they have supplied a housing need which they invited…! If there is a Hell, they will burn in it, like the greenery that they will clear for greed’s sake.
The developers, builders and councillors usually have second homes elsewhere, including abroad, and will move off the Island completely once they retire, or get a more lucrative job elsewhere – leaving the mess behind them.
Could be half the Chav population if Ryde. Plenty of scummers down Ryde.
It’s fine to blame people you think will come from the main land but do you think everyone bourn on the island are saints.may be you should move to the big Island and see if it is any different.or anywhere else in the world come to that. Offer something constructive.

Thank goodness i am moving back to the mainland. After 10 years i have seen the island
go from a safe haven to a drug ridden ghetto.
Good but unless you are going to live in the middle of nowhere it won’t be any different.still drugs and law breakers.you will convince yourself you are better off but after another 10 years you are no better off and you will move on.
Let’s hope our country will change for the better in ten years time, we have a new path now and it’s up to us to guide the next generation into a better future.
We need to motivate our young and teach them wrong from right and respect each other no matter what age you are, we need to educat them that working hard will deliver prosperity.
Ron, I am in the process of doing exactly the same, moving off the island, we have been here for 25 years and seen such a marked deterioration during that time, in drug taking and crime.
The island used to be a haven from the crime and lawlessness of mainland cities, now it seems as bad or even worse.
One has to ask why it has deteriorated so markedly in such a short time. One possible cause may be the change in government policy regarding the allocation of council/housing assn homes. One used to have to prove a local connection in order to qualify for housing here, however this has now been dropped. So for a while now, anyone has been able to relocate here, such as the low-lifes featured above…
You moved here 25 years ago clare in 1973 but you are all still living there.there is more people on the housing list than there is house’s.you can not just move here and get a property.you do have to have ties to the island or have lived here for a number of years.if people stopped being so negative and got there facts straight you might see it’s no worse than anywhere else.but if you hate it so much maybe going is best for all.

A couple has moved from the Mainland here 3 doors away from me no family ties what so ever
Stu, I’m afraid your a bit out of date. Councils get paid a lot of money to house the problem families, individuals from the mainland that have been moved from area to area. Basically nobody wants them in their county because they are lawless troublemakers. So, in their wisdom our Isle of Wight council take them….. The councillors don’t care because they know where these people will be housed and you can bet your last dollar it won’t be anywhere near to where they live. I can see a deterioration in the island just in the last couple of years which is such a shame because it is so beautiful here. The vile individuals don’t care about location, only that they continue to cause trouble and break all the laws of the land. We all need to contact Dave Stewart, leader of the IOW council and make our feelings known. We can’t just sit back and let this island become a haven of crime due to all the skanks having been moved over from the mainland.
Opinions – why do people vote for councillors who don’t care who is housed on this Island. Surely the Island population has the power to elect councillors who do care and want to promote houses for Islanders. I don’t get it. Surely the Island’s voters are ultimately responsible for this.

In terms of crime and criminality the Island is10 years behind the mainland, unless your talking about certain crimes.
The moans on here about drugs and bad driving are just what happens on the mainland as everyday occurrences.
They don’t even make headlines, when your swamped with beggars and homeless people and the associated crime they create you’ll get a taste of the real world.
Having moved away in the 70’s it’s been a steady decline and saddening to watch the situation worsen.
Thieving scum that’s what they are. Not much to go on as they have their faces covered. Good luck in bringing these bunch of lowlife to justice.

I don’t condone any burglary but solo chancers are one thing. These are four organised criminals with the potential to use violence if confronted .
This is at a different level and someone knows who they are. Report them before they do something really bad.
No connection or family ties To the island are needed if you are doing a swap with someone else,that’s how a lot of the wrong uns get their nice accommodation these days.
This was sam crates of shanklin and another male from ryde called mark I am unsure of a second name and I am unwilling to make a whiteness statement but I have heard them both boasting about this crime but then again on this island that means nothing could be a case of admitting guilt to make themselves look more superior in their very sad and questionable friend circle.
