UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are attending a road traffic collision on Beaper Shute near Ryde tonight (Sunday).
At least 1 vehicle has been involved in the incident, which has taken place close to the junction with Harding Shute on the main Ryde to Sandown road.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 22:15.
Those involved are currently being assessed by emergency personnel, however their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The road remains open under Police direction.
UPDATE @ 22:53 – The driver of a red Seat Leon has had a lucky escape after crashing into a tree lining the carriageway.
The vehicle – which was travelling towards Ryde – has spun and gone rear-end first into the tree, causing significant damage to both the car and street furniture.
The driver, a man in his 20s, is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
Emergency services have now left the scene although a single Police unit remains whilst recovery of the car takes place.
