2 men arrested following reports of an altercation involving a suspected firearm near Bembridge last summer have been released with no further action to be taken, Police have confirmed.
Police were called at 18:34 on Friday 11th July to reports of an incident involving 2 vehicles on Sandown Road, near the junctions towards Bembridge and Yaverland.
It was reported that an altercation had taken place between the occupants of the vehicles. As part of enquiries, officers attended an address in Arundel Close where they arrested a 34-year-old man from Ryde and a 26-year-old man from Bembridge on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Both were bailed with conditions while an investigation got underway.
Although it was initially reported that a firearm may have been involved, no weapon was located and there was not believed to be any wider risk to the public.
Police have now confirmed that both men have been released from bail without charge and will face no further action.
