There are delays on a major route in Newport this morning (Monday) following a road traffic collision.
It is understood that a silver Vauxhall Astra has collided with the side of a Biffa bin lorry before careering into some street furniture.
Police and paramedics are on scene having been called at just before 09:00.
As a result of the crash, the sliproad at Medina Way near Dodnor Lane has been closed.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.

The roads are getting worse everyday, how do you miss a
dustcart.
What a load of rubbish.
“how do you miss a dustcart”
looking at the (very long range) photo…I think, maybe, the dustcart didn’t stop at the giveway at the end of the slipway (either that or the car didn’t)
it’s a weird junction that,.. almost all of it is controlled by traffic lights,..except the end of that slip-road from St Mary’s to Dodnor,.. where there is a giveway… as everything else has traffic lights, it’s easy to expect there to be nothing coming from the right when you get to the end of the slipway and, because of the angle, you really have to look back over your shoulder to check. (can’t see it in your mirrors ‘cos the angle is just wrong)…
Very true, from what I see most days, vehicles
don’t want to give way to other vehicles.
