A damage-only crash on a ‘notorious’ junction in Newport resulted in a callout for Police earlier this evening (Thursday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the incident on St James’ Street – near the junction with Lugley Street – at around 18:00.
At the scene, a Ford Fiesta emerging from the junction onto St James’ Street has collided with a Peugeot heading toward High Street.
Island Echo understands that the incident was a ‘damage only’ crash and that no injuries have been sustained.
St James’ Street was blocked for a while but the incident has since been cleared by local recovery agent Bartletts.
From the image it looks like the vehicle is
on the wrong side of the Road, also there are
give way markings.
The island norm, is not to giveway at junctions.
Lol
There was a chance to do something about that junction when the flats were built there. But, of course, the chance to squeeze in an extra building was the priority, rather than giving drivers emerging from Lugley Street a clear view down the road.
