Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Ryde yesterday morning (Sunday).
Officers were called to St John’s Road after receiving reports of a single vehicle collision, as first reported by Island Echo.
A Mitsubishi Space Runner collided with a wall of a shop and the driver was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sadly, the 84-year-old man, from Ryde, died in hospital yesterday. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the collision and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened.
