Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a collision in Ryde yesterday morning (Wednesday) which left an elderly cyclist with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the Esplanade just before 11:00 after a collision involving a blue Mercedes Vaneo and a bicycle, as reported by Island Echo.
The cyclist, a man in his 70s from Ryde, was flown to Southampton General Hospital by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, where he remains in a serious condition.
An investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision is underway, with officers from the Collision Investigation Unit having conducted a forensic examination of the crash scene yesterday afternoon.
Investigating officers are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident, in particular anyone with dash cam footage.
