Police and volunteers from WightSAR are battling the elements in a bid to locate a man who has gone missing on the Isle of Wight tonight (Saturday).
For over 2 hours now search teams have been conducting a search between Carisbrooke and Brighstone – across the Tennyson Trial – for an individual for whom concerns have been raised.
Sideways rain and low mist, plus the rapidly fading light, are hampering efforts, but the search continues.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is yet to issue any information about the male, who is thought to have gone missing from an address on Nodgeham Lane in Carisbrooke.
However, multiple resources have been allocated to the search, including a dog unit. Additional resources have been called in with Isle of Wight Search and Rescue mobilising a full team.
Initially getting underway in the vicinity of Carisbrooke Castle, the search and the hive of activity surrounding it has now moved further West to the Lynch Lane area of Brighstone.
UPDATE @ 21:34 – Despite the challenging conditions, the search efforts have paid off – the missing male has been located safe and well.
He is now in the care of the appropriate agency.
Search teams have been stood down.
