Enrolment is now open for the Isle of Wight’s only postgraduate programme: the MA Music Industry Innovation & Enterprise.
Soon to enter its 6th year, this MA is designed to support those wishing to secure employment opportunities in the music industry. It has been carefully designed to prepare students for the next stage of their careers, to challenge current music business models, to explore innovation, and to allow them to pursue their own career aspirations.
Part of Platform One’s ethos is to create and nurture professionals across all aspects of the music industry, developing their prospect of a sustainable career. There are strong links and significant working relationships with the music industry underpinning the curriculum.

The programme runs in partnership with the University of Chichester, blending both traditional taught sessions alongside independent study and professional development.
The programme expects to attract entrants who have a background in the subject or a related subject area, acquired through previous study (a bachelor’s degree with honours or equivalent), and entrants who have acquired experience through work or other means that enables staff responsible for admissions to be confident of the candidate’s ability to succeed in the programme.

2021 MA Graduate Edan Moorhouse says:
“I genuinely believe if I didn’t do the master’s, I wouldn’t be where I am today due to the amount of extra investment that was made into developing the students not just as musicians, but as well-rounded individuals. This equipped us with the emotional resilience and perseverance that people probably haven’t had to deal with in a long time.”
MA Programme Leader Jason Paine has said:
“The MA programme is a challenging yet rewarding journey, which enables students to truly get beneath the surface of the music industry. Many musicians tend to plateau and then coast through their careers without true job satisfaction, and the MA is designed to help musicians overcome this by exploring innovative business and enterprise concepts in relation to each individual’s career aspirations.
“The most successful students on the programme are those that are motivated, and who see the value in being able to align their career ambitions alongside the MA framework. The course features a great balance of creative and academic responsibilities, allowing students to thrive in career-based development, whilst securing a postgraduate qualification simultaneously.”
Prospective students can attend an opening evening at 18:00 on Tuesday 19th July at Platform One, during which the programme details will be discussed, alongside the opportunity for questions to be asked.
Those interested in the programme may register an interest via the Platform One website at www.platformone.org.
