UPDATED: Emergency services are responding to road traffic collision involving an overturned pick-up on Forest Road in Newport this morning (Friday)
Police, fire and ambulance crews are in attendance at the scene near Standen Avenue, where a Renault Clio has been involved in a collision with a Toyota Hilux. The Hilux has come to rest on its side.
The road has been closed in both directions.
UPDATE @ 11:40 – A total of 5 people have been injured in the 2 vehicle collision.
The driver of the Toyota pick up has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with potentially serious injuries, whilst despite the substantial damage to the vehicle, the 4 occupants of the Renault Clio have escaped with minor injuries.
The road remains closed whilst Police await an update from doctors on the driver’s condition.
Motorists should avoid the area until further notice.
