Islanders walked out of their front doors this morning to find black ice covering not only the front step, but the pavements and roads too. It didn’t stop there with windows covered in a sheet of ice and, in some cases, car tyres.
All schools were closed as a result of this morning’s tretchourous conditions and Southern Vectis buses were on diversion for most of the day.
The temperature is starting to rise meaning the ice is beginning to melt away – although some level of disruption is expected on Saturday morning. Everything should return to normal by the new working week.
