The Phoenix Choir will be in concert on Saturday 12th April at Newport Minster, raising money for local charity Wight Cardiac Rehab.
The choir sings songs from films, musicals and other genres and has been raising funds for local charities and deserving causes since 2009.
WCR provides a structured and supervised exercise programme for people with heart conditions – particularly those recovering from heart attacks or heart surgery – to improve and preserve the quality of their lives by continued support and guidance for themselves, their carers and families.
The programme is tailored to an individual’s needs, clinical condition and physical limitations following a cardiac event. Membership of the charity is by referral from a GP.
WCR is looking to establish its own premises in Newport and is currently fund raising in order to achieve this.
Phoenix Choir Musical Director Robin Burnett and WCR Trustee says:
“After 16 years of fundraising for a range of local charities and good causes, the choir will retire shortly, so this concert will be one of our last performances. Admission is free, with voluntary contributions going towards the charity.”
WCR Coordinator and Instructor Lyn Smith adds:
“Exercise classes are currently held across the Island – in Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Freshwater and Cowes. My hope is, that through fundraising, we can establish our own premises in Newport.”
The concert begins at 19:30.
