St John’s Church in Newport was the venue for Phoenix Choir’s latest concert last Thursday (30th June).
The choir used the opportunity to raise money towards Carisbrooke Castle Museum’s Refurbishment of Princess Beatrice’s Kitchen.
The appreciative audience were entertained with songs from a wide variety of genres, including Band of Brothers – which the choir dedicated to Ukraine – Fields of Gold by Sting, Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder, and Sloop John B. The soloists were Jan Merwood with Caledonia, Paul Stevens with Music of the Night, Ian Attrill with I Love You Because, Gwen Stevens with Gladiator, and Elizabeth Habens with O Mio Babbino Caro.
A total of £520 was raised toward the Carisbrooke Castle Museum project.
The Phoenix Choir’s next concert will be at St Saviour’s Church, Totland, on Saturday 13th August at 19:30.
