The Phoenix Choir has raised £843 in aid of a new stained glass window for St Saviour’s Church, Totland, in a concert on Saturday 13th August.
The audience in St Saviour’s proved to be sturdy and resilient, as well as enthusiastic and appreciative and enjoyed 2 hours of entertainment in temperatures of 31 and 32 degrees Centigrade.
They were rewarded with songs from a wide variety of genres including The Sun Has Got His Hat On, You’re My World, Sloop John B with the men‘s choir, and My Land, which was the song dedicated to the people of Ukraine for this concert. The soloists this time were Pat Attrill with The Rose and Elizabeth Habens with The Nun’s Chorus and I Could Have Danced All Night.
The sum raised will be used to have a new stained glass window, yet to be commissioned, made and installed as part of St Saviour’s Centenary Project.
