The Cowes Floating Bridge service has been suspended for all vehicles this morning (Thursday) due to an issue with one of the prow cables.
The East Cowes to Cowes service is operating for foot passengers only until further notice.
It’s said that the vessel’s South West prow cable is starting to part.
This morning’s news means that all vehicles are now having to divert via Newport.
There has been no suggestion as to when the issue will be fixed.
I refer to a comment I made a long time ago about having some spare parts available, why not fit the spare cable?
That would make sense, But this is the council we’re talking about!
So safe for people to get on it then? You couldn’t make it up.
shut up…
15:00 – back in operation.
Might as well scrap it, who wants to go to
East Cowes anyway!, just drive round.
The mind boggles
