UPDATED: A male pedestrian has been involved in an incident on Fairlee Road, Newport this morning (Thursday).
Police and paramedics are currently attending the scene at the pedestrian crossing near to Medina College.
Traffic is reported to be backed up in the area. Southern Vectis Routes 5 and 9 are delayed.
UPDATE @ 11:50 – One casualty has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance.
The scene has been cleared and the road remains open. Southern Vectis buses have returned to timetable.
It is now understood the pedestrian suffered a medical episode at the crossing, although it is unclear if he came into contact with a car that stopped close by.
