A pedestrian suffered injuries following a hit-and-run collision on Coppins Bridge over the weekend.
Police were called at 00:44 on Sunday (29th June) with reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian near Coppins Bridge roundabout.
It was then reported that the pedestrian got into another vehicle and left the area, with no further details passed onto Police.
However, Island Echo now understands that the pedestrian has since visited St Mary’s Hospital where he received treatment for injuries sustained on the morning in question.
It’s claimed a car dropped down a gear and revved towards the pedestrian, before then striking the male and then leaving the scene.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is encouraged to call Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary on 101.
Those traffic lights need cctv anyway the amount of cars ride the red light! Hope the guy is ok?

True enough! So many cars have a blatant disregard for the rules of the road!
The give way to the right rule does seem to confuse people; there is no fixed distance with regards to this so some people are within their rights to go if a vehicle is approaching from the right. Obviously if the vehicle is already on the roundabout, or just about to enter, then that’s a different matter.
So the collision was targeted at the pedestrian who then left the scene but was badly injured enough to seek hospital treatment. I wonder what beef was going on there
So many grudges, numpty’s need to grow up.
The actions of the pedestrian are clearly indicative of serious issues around this attempted GBH or even attempted murder at worst.
The Police will eventually identify the victim and the vehicle, and who knows what will come to light.
This car driver is dangerous and needs prosecuting and banging up.
