The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) has conveyed a patient to Southampton following a medical emergency in Freshwater Bay this morning (Monday).
Having left its Thruxton base at around 08:10, the yellow and green liveried helicopter touched down in a field off Gate Lane at around 08:30.
On the ground, several resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service tended to the patient in the local vicinity before they were transferred to the helicopter for onward conveyance. It is unclear as to the exact nature of the incident.
After around 60 minutes on scene, HIOWAA lifted off and has since taken the patient to Southampton General Hospital.
Great job by the Air Ambulance at least they
stand a fighting chance being taken to
one of the best hospitals in the country.
