A convicted paedophile was found dead inside his flat at a housing complex in Ryde yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
It was just after 15:00 that Police responded to concerns raised for the welfare of a man in his late 60s.
Officers arrived on blue lights and sirens at The London, on Well Street, where they forced entry into a flat by breaking down the door.
They discovered a deceased male inside.
Police remained on scene for several hours, and later were seen leaving the retirement housing complex with evidence bags.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.

Can anybody suggest why that needed at least three Police crews (all of whom parked on the double-yellows/pavement)?
I think people have more going on in there lives than worrying about how many cars are outside. Get a life.
Emergency vehicles are allowed to park on double yellows. When a death cause isn’t known, procedure will be followed as though it could be a suspicious death & that may mean multiple vehicles on scene, as usually more than 3 people are needed for something as significant as finding a body in a flat. First week on earth? Let’s hope if you’re ever in a medical emergency, your help isn’t delayed because a Karen decided the ambulance can’t be on double-yellows. Lol.
Heaven forbid that emergency vehicles don’t spend unnecessary additional time and money finding free parking spaces so that it doesn’t inconvenience you, or put your nose out of joint.
Good grief. What a life you must live up there in your ivory tower. I think the altitude has gone to your head ….
Agree with you 100% and will you see any cops walking the streets of Ryde, Sandown etc on a raucous Saturday night? Nope.
Why do you ask?
Because there is one law for the public and another for the police!
Because there is one law for the public and another for the police who think they are above the law!
Why lead with his conviction? What does it matter if he was a convicted paedophile? Someone’s now dead and you’re now fuelling horrible comments about his past?
I agree ,but thats the isle of wight and the island echo!
Wow. LITERALLY wow.
The man was a fucking nonce. And your worried about nasty comments.

Horrible comments about his past!! Are you having a laugh. He was a convicted paedophile, so doesn’t deserve anything.
We don’t know the facts, peadpophile could mean he had a relationship 40+ years ago when he was 18yrs with a 15yr old. Funny how we know he’s a paedophile but not his name.
I assume your post is a joke, or you don’t know what a paedophile is. But if not, it’s so we can celebrate one wrogun gone.
because the island is full of sad ‘paedo-hunters’ that have nthing better to do.
Mr police man! Heres another one that needs looking at ♀️
Mr police man! Heres another one that needs looking at ♀️
Probably because he lived opposite a children’s nursery, it’s disgusting and grotesque and frankly, good riddance.
Mr police man! I suggest Dave is looked into pronto! Wth is wrong with men like you? MEN ARE SUPPOSE TO PROTECT WOMEN AND CHILDREN NOT MONSTERS!
Dave’s a wrongun pass it on
Because he got his just deserts. If he had touched one of your kids then I’m sure you would agree with that.
Get a grip!
Would YOU want you go in alone or with just one other? Not knowing what you are going to find???
Officers arrived on blue lights and sirens at The London..that’s good then..
Well that is good news, one less paedophile on the island, reduced monitoring costs and young children will sleep a little more soundly in their beds tonight..
I actually thought that with there been 3 police crews there, someone had posted an inappropriate tweet.
Hurty words result in Armed Response units from North Island
Good, another piece of shit that can’t harm anyone else now, and we longer have to pay for them
