Newport Rowing Club is holding an open morning to show off the work completed on their clubhouse to the community. In August 2023 the rowing club embarked upon a Crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to improve their clubhouse and – with the help of Sport England – raised over £10,000. All the planned work has been completed over the last 8 months., including underpinning the building with steel supports, replacing the slipway and an internal refurbishment of the clubroom. Where necessary professionals were engaged, but much of the labour was provided by club members. The club are displaying the completed work to the community at an open morning on Monday 6th May from 09:30 to 12:00. There will also be a rowing demonstration. A limited number of taster sessions can be booked, by emailing [email protected]. Free tea and coffee will be available.
