Reports of an object floating in the sea off Ventnor led to a local Coastguard Rescue Team being mobilised earlier this morning (Thursday).
At just before 08:10, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were alerted to a 20ft unidentified object just off the shore.
A short search was completed in the area with nothing untoward found.
The incident has been deemed a false alarm with good intent.
