‘Get yourself some trainers and start walking’ – that was the message from Magistrates as they handed a 37-year-old Oakfield woman a 40-month driving ban earlier this week.
Carly Percey, of Slade Road, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday (25th July) charged with drug driving.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that on the morning of 27th March, at around 11:30, Police on patrol noticed Percey driving along Morton Old Road in her red Vauxhall Corsa. As she was known by Police to be a cannabis user officers decided to stop her at the roadside.
A roadside drugs wipe returned a positive reading for cannabis, before a further test in blood – taken at Newport Police Station – showed that Percey had 3.7mg/l of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in her system. The legal limit is 2.0mg/l.
Defending herself, Percey said that she hadn’t smoked on the day in question and that she felt positive that when she was stopped she wouldn’t fail a drugs wipe.
In June of this year, Percey was disqualified from driving after being caught drug driving at the start of the year. Due to the recent nature of this conviction, Percey was eligible for a mandatory minimum 3-year ban. She had a similar conviction in 2020.
Magistrates handed Percey a 40-month driving ban and ordered her to pay a £120 fine. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £48 surcharge fee.

Look at the state of it.
Immediate imprisonment is the only way to deal with these individuals.
Drink or drug driving is unforgivable
Looks like one of rydes finest.
She’s had a hard life… Doesn’t look likes she’s worked a day in her life guessing benefits paid for all those hideous tattoos and your drugs
Another waster who doesn’t learn from previous incidents , not fit to get behind a wheel and never will be , next time under the influence of habits there could be fatal, consequences for some unlucky person/s
Does this meet Sir Keir Starmer’s current definition of a woman. One more reason not to visit Ryde.
She looks more like 67 not 37…stay away from drugs kids lol
37-year-old are you sure.
Anyone want to buy a cheap corsa, will help pay for new trainers!!! May need the drug marker taken off first! Guessing a disqual driver will be pulled over in the near future!
More like 57. Give it a week she’ll be driving again. That car always stinks of drugs. Bad driver too, two weeks ago nearly crashed into the bus I was on, cutting the corner into Oakfield.
Oakfields finest! Looking good there
Bet next she will be be getting a free bus pass so she can get out and buy more drugs hope she haven’t got any kids mind you who’d want to go with that another druggie maybe
I think she’s old enough for a pensioner bus pass lol
37, must be a typo, or that’s the amount of Tatt”s on show.
The next generation of such will be more tanned, more violent and have more clones for us to keep
I feel sorry for the good people in oakfield… they have scum like this on their doorstep bringing the community down..maybe the police should drug/alcohol test in that area more often
look up ‘skank’ in the dictionary and you’ll see that
40 month ban won’t stop her driving, she will drive until caught again.
Did they take away the car that should be mandatory .
To anyone reading these delightful comments from our snobby locals this is the reality of the island. People looking down on other and a class system that was outdated in the Victorian times. As you can see the mind set is still stuck in the past, the lady is from the poorer side of the island and as you can see the pitch forks are out over the police finding easy pickings as they cannot be bother to fight the real crime. You’ll see the lady in question wasn’t driving erratically wasn’t drunk but just for a joint. But the local snobs are out here with there lovely words. Great representation of the island.
It must be you in the report. No one else can make a statement like that.
No she’s a drug addict who doesn’t work who sits on her a** smoking weed… Then goes out on the roads after smoking a spliff driving you wouldn’t be saying that if she hit 1 of your members of family would you cretins like this should be locked up and never allowed to drive again
I don’t understand how folk like this can afford a car, fuel etc when not working!!!
I see your punctuation and the grasp of basic English needs work..double check what you write
Your halo must be gleaming…
“Poorer side of the Island” – There is equal opportunity for everyone out there, just takes some hard work and some drive! Some people just can’t be bothered. Doesn’t matter whether it was “just for a joint”, obviously your comment would have been different if she’s knocked over a child perhaps?
