ISLAND BACK INTO LOCKDOWN FROM THURSDAY ANNOUNCES PRIME MINISTER
Share on FacebookShare on X

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that from the start of next month even more business will be allowed to re-open and beauticians can resume facial treatments, with larger gatherings set to be piloted ahead of a return in October.

In a bid to get people back to work, employers will be given more discretion to allow them to decide what works best, which could include more working from home.

From tomorrow, the Isle of Wight Council will be given new powers to enforce a local lockdown. They will have the authority to close specific premises, outdoor spaces and even cancel events. The power will enable local authorities across the country to respond quickly to outbreaks where speed is paramount.

Boris has said that it is his strong and sincere hope that the country will be able to make a more significant return to normality from November at the earliest, possibly in time for Christmas.

On the condition that every one of us staying alert and acts responsibly, the following timetable has been announced:

• 25th July – Re-opening indoor gyms, pools and other sports facilities (already confirmed)
• 1st August – Re-open most leisure settings including bowling, skating rinks, casinos – but nightclubs and soft play to remain closed
• 1st August – Beauty treatments on the face to be allowed
• 1st August – Socially distanced audiences can return for indoor performances in theatres, music halls and other venues
• 1st August – Wedding receptions for up to 30 people allowed
• August – Pilot events with audiences to be trialled over the summer at the Snooker World Champs, Goodwood and in County Cricket
• September – Schools, nurseries and colleges to re-open for all on a full-time basis
• October – Audiences in stadiums and competition venues to return with social distancing. Business events and conferences can re-commence with social distancing
• November – Significant steps forward to return to normal, possibly in time for Christmas

Ahead of indoor performances resuming, the Government has laid out guidance which includes:

  • Reduced venue capacity and limited ticket sales to ensure social distancing can be maintained
  • Tickets will be purchased online and venues encouraged to use e-tickets to reduce contact and help with track and trace
  • Venues should have clearly communicated social distancing marking in place in areas where queues form and adopt a limited entry approach
  • Increased deep cleaning of auditoriums
  • Performances should be scheduled to allow sufficient time to undertake deep cleaning before the next audience arrives
  • Performers, conductors, musicians must observe social distancing wherever possible

The Government have no choice. They ‘have’ to get the nation back to work, as now we have imported so many dirt poor into our midst, we would soon starve.

So, although our Government can’t admit that they know many of us will die, it should be clear to most that that is just what will happen as a few masks will not prevent everyone from catching this, so as it ONLY took one person to infect the entire planet, even a ‘few’ catching this will soon spread it to great numbers.

HMG KNOW this, hence the increased hospital beds and refrigeration units for those yet to fall.

I would wait until the vaccine is available before going to pubs, out for meals or mixing in gyms, having your nails painted with dots etc.

You may well NOT live to regret it.

Normality will be when the virus is eradicated.

As it stands and going by the almost total lack of social distancing and self awareness I witnessed today in Shanklin, the normality Johnson is looking for will be at the expense of the thousands of elderly and vulnerable people who will die over the next 12 months.

Holiday maker in Shanklin yesterday when asked to social distance said l came on holiday to get away from all that, and that’s the problems we’re going to get with some holiday makers.

Most of us are sensible enough to keep a distance from holiday makers, correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t you complaining about kids on Appley beach a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think you’ve got a very high opinion of lslanders .

Denizens of Wight deserve a capital letter when one refers to Islanders, and, quite frankly with respect, madam, we’d rather you didn’t come. I speak for most as my family has a five hundred year history, at least… We wouldn’t have to have your ‘new normal’ if you respected us by not bringing your germs over. When you say ‘some’, Suzanne, do you mean the ones you’re not coming over to meet, as they are safe, and not the same ones without second homes and air b’n’bs who you fo know who you are perfectly happy to stay with? Terribly sorry, ma’am, but if you don’t live or work here we don’t want you. Please tell your friends, if they haven’t died of Covidity, as my cousun has.

Dear Madam, they’re all escaping the Covidity of their own environs to experience the Isle of Purity! Brighton used to be called London – by-sea. Might as well be Sandown, Shanklin or Ventnor now. All with their half hour stints in front of estate agents’ windows, North Face jackets and flip-flops, and complete inability to understand that we are angry because if Any Outbreak of virus started on the IW the London sort would lobby, nay badger, Parliament not to let a single one of us off Fraggle Rock for at least five years!

Sadly this looks like a child writing to Santa with a huge list of I wants for Christmas. Reality for a child is the wish list is seldom met.
Until a vaccine is produced there will be no return to normality. We all need to realise living with this virus is the challenge, that does not mean a return to normality. Many countries have proven the problems of trying to return to normality.

lol what a lot of rubbish you do talk.
It’s literally just the flu…
We should end lockdown, wearing masks and distancing and just let herd immunity happen already

I am with you, sir. Immunity for the herd. Sadly Boris ‘I am never going to have a statue to even be weed on by drunks, let alone pull down’ Boris Wiff Waff got the willies when he worked out if 60per cent of people over seventy died, a Conservative government would not win the next election.

“It will all be over by Christmas”, said many people at the start of WW1. Sadly and tragically, it wasn’t.

I find your comments quite pertinent, sir. I work with a lady who has just had her first hair cut in three months. She looks like Ernie Wise. You gotta love that virus! It’s hilarious working with an actual comedy legend.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus will never go away. Luckily it mutates slowly so a seasonal vaccine will be effective (September 2021 at the soonest). But like Flu, will have to be updated each year. There is no return to normal. We as a nation will need to change our habits. Such as protecting others when we think we have any bug not just SARS-CoV-2. This includes wearing a mask when you go out and limiting the number of people you come in contact with whilst you’re unwell. This will be hard for a lot of people like my self. We need to get away from the idea ‘I got out of bed so I can go to work’ mentality.

P.s. SARS-CoV-2 virus what causes the COVID-19 disease.

I’m guessing you’re one of those “conspiracy theory ” people. If you don’t believe that the virus exists, you are either mentally ill or just plain stupid.

What s load of PIFFLE yet again from Bumbling Boris and his Tory party. Against all the advice from the scientists, Boris is planning to allow supporters into football matches….. Unbelievable! One minute he stands in front of the cameras and says to the TV audience’s of the UK, we need to protect the NHS and prepare for a possible and worse second wave from the virus during the winter months of 2020, then he announces plans like this. Social distancing at a football match, who’s he kidding. Some people can’t even do that when going into a supermarket! Wait and see people, just wait and see!!!

Stop spreading fear and lies, but you are right about a second wave, well nearly. It will be seasonal flu, recorded as Covid bs 19! Just a little reminder, I’m still watching, and I see the tide is turning against you.
