An electricity supply problem is impacting Island Line services with all trains between Brading and Shanklin cancelled today (Sunday).
It was at around 18:20 yesterday evening that those living in the local area reported a ‘power surge’, with trains grinding to a halt a short time later.
Power to the line has still not been reinstated more than 12 hours later, meaning trains will only be running between Ryde Esplanade and Brading today.
Sandown, Lake and Shanklin will not be served until further notice.
Tickets are being accepted on Southern Vectis’ Routes 2 and 3 buses between Ryde and Shanklin.
South Western Railway says it is very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.
I thought the trains can run on battery power.
They probably could if they had batteries.
Need to put another shilling in the meter.
The old trains were more reliable than the
new ones, just like the old chain ferry.
Proof old is better than new.
