The Charter Lounge has opened this week on Newport’s St Thomas’ Square, offering ‘global street food at affordable prices’.
It is the latest venture by Jake Rigby and Peter Greenhalgh, the team behind The Sun Inn at Calbourne and, The King’s Head in Yarmouth, which has since temporarily closed.
Offering ‘mouthwatering global street food, aromatic coffee, and refreshing drinks’, tables can now be booked online with the venue open from Monday to Wednesday between 09:00 and 20:00 and from Thursday to Saturday between 09:00 and 23:00. The Charter Lounge will be closed on Sundays.
1 social media user who dined there earlier this week said that ‘the food was outrageously good’ and the team have emphasised that there are gluten free and vegan options available on almost every dish.

coffee is aromatic, drinks generally are refreshing, rave reviews, 1 social media user who is probably a mate. More clutter on the pavements then.
Its not even the same blokes pictured in previous adverts, perhaps one of them is too busy at yarmouth? Hope the waitress survives
Nah mate, Café Isola, top notch and no clutter on the pavements
Think that should be rave review (singular), and probably written by the manager. Who trusts social media reviews or online reviews these days? Most are bogus.
Hottest new venue? The food looks like multicoloured overpriced fast food from what I’ve seen on google. Might be tasty. But early days and I wish them well. Good or bad the word will spread.
Just a deep fat fryer feast. Bung it all in the fryer and keep it cheap. Lag your pipes before a good old booze up? Nah not at those prices. Save your money and go to Spoons.
Hope it’s better than the food was at the King’s head
Is this venue dog friendly?
Leave your dogs at home. Why do some people think we all want to be subjected to your dogs in bars and restaurants? They are unhygienic, danderous, begging pests.
Moaning! Boaring! Miserable! moaning you lot are eh
Good luck to them. Haven’t had chance to try yet but hoping it’s a good addition to the town. Heaven knows it needs livening up there
