In a shock announcement Fever & Boutique nightclub in Newport has confirmed it is to close its doors for good next week.
The nightclub, located on Coppins Bridge in Newport, opened in June 2017 but after 7 years of trading the decision has been made to call it a day on the Isle of Wight.
The news comes as a massive blow to the nighttime economy in the Island’s county town – and is perhaps an indicator as to the declining scene on the Island, which was once thriving.
Previously, the premises at the Coppins Bridge Retail & Leisure Park operated as Chicago Rock until its closure in 2009. JD Wetherspoon took over but closed in early 2016.
There is no indicator at this stage as to whether a replacement tenant has been lined up, or if the unit will simply be added to the growing list of empty properties in Newport.
Fever’s last night will be next Saturday (5th October) when a farewell party will be held from 22:00-04:00.
A spokesperson for Fever has said:
”Thanks to all those who made our nights so special. We’ve had some incredible times and are sure you’ve made memories for life”.
